One of the new directions and offerings for the 2022 season is a additional division named Pixie. While it is new to CMB it’s not new to Essex and Kingsville.
One of the problems over the last 10 – 15 years was a gap in our programs. This gap was created by not having a program for the girls that were coming out of T-Ball that did not want to face the dreaded pitching machine in Rookie Ball. This gap was also created by not having a contiguous program for the girls that were ultimately headed for Slo-Pitch softball. They would have to wait up to 3 years to enter the Junior Girls Softball program at the age of 9. During this wait skills were lost, desire to continue with baseball also waned which made it difficult to sustain the Junior Girls program.
We reached out to baseball centres around us and discovered that both Essex and Kingsville have a girls softball program that they call “Pixie”. This new division is specifically designed to offer softball for girls that are leaving T-Ball and didn’t want to enter into the 9U (Rookie) program. We are very excited to offer it and watch it evolve.
