Wrap up 2017

Tomorrow is our wrap up and while I know many of us have discussed the details as to who is bringing what, I would like to know the details.

Cottam Baseball will bring the meat, drinks and buns.  We need others to bring some sort of side dish/salad.  Please let rick (text 519-791-4326) know what you intend to bring.

Horse Show Tournament

We are in the preliminary stages of putting together a Co-ed tournament during the annual Cottam Rotary Horse show in mid September.  As we move forward we will be asking for help to plan and run the event.  We are extremely excited as this event, in combination of the Cottam Rotary Horse, will make for an fun weekend for young and old alike.  Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Let’s Play

Tonight is our first night for the 2017 baseball season, while everyone is excited we will have some housekeeping to do.  We will need to make sure we collect any funds that are still outstanding and go over the rules for the season.  See EVERYONE there for 6:00.

2017 Registrations begin!

Registrations for the 2017 Cottam Adult Baseball season have begun.  You will be able to register for CAB in two ways.  The first way will be on-line in the comfort of your own home.  You will even be able to pay by credit card, safely and securely.

The second way will be through several in-person registrations.  This method will allow you to pay by credit card, cheque or cash and we have made several dates available.  Check the calendar for the up-to-date dates, times and locations.

This year we expect a larger turnout and we will be limiting total registration to only 100 people.  So please register early to guarantee your spot.

WANTED! Cottam Rotary is getting ready for their annual Christmas tree sale and need a couple of young at heart, strong and ambitious volunteers to help unload the Christmas Tree truck when it comes in. This time can also be used as part of the required high school volunteer hours so mom’s and dad’s can drag the kids out as well! Many hands make less work so all are welcome. Tentatively the truck arrival is Saturday, November 26th @ 8:00 am. Please contact Dan Levy with Cottam Rotary at

Still good to go!

We had some rain earlier today, but the diamonds are dry and the weather is looking all clear! As always, if weather starts looking bad, please check back for more information.

Weather Alert

Today they are predicting nasty weather at or near the time we are to start playing baseball.  As we said in previous posts & emails you need to check this website for the latest information.  We may have to make last minute decisions.

Weather Update!

On days like today where the weather can change in an instant or when it has rained throughout the night and during the day there is a chance baseball will need to be cancelled.  Below is how we determine if baseball is a go or no go.

  1. If the Town of Kingsville sends an email indicating that the fields are closed, then no matter what the actual field conditions are we cannot play ball.
  2. Baring no email from the town someone will go to the diamonds two hours before the scheduled start and determine the playing conditions and post the cancellation on the website.  This person (probably Rick as he is the closest to the park) makes the decision.  Ultimately the decision is based on safety first and foremost and is final.  This means if baseball is cancelled no one is allowed on the diamonds and if you chose to ignore the closure you will not be covered for insurance in the event of injury.
  3. If the website does not indicate baseball is cancelled you are to assume we are playing baseball.

While all the above is great in a perfect world, there will be times when you show up and it has rained and we can’t play. League convenors (Nicole, Doug & Rick) will decide if we continue or not.  While we understand some of you may be coming in from the city and you may have to turn around and go home there is not much we can do, however we do have a small restaurant uptown that you can sit and have a nice dinner.

Also if a game is cancelled, all games are cancelled for the night.  As the league does not track wins or losses we will not be making up any game missed due to weather.
